Sothebys Systems Integration
Sothebys Institute of Art had a number of websites and databases holding student, staff, and alumni information. Using MySQL, PHP, HTML, CSS and AJAX I built a centralised registration and authorisation system that integrated the websites and merged the databases.
The merging of the information required migrating, cleansing, and deduplicating old and new data across databases and platforms.
The registration system records user information and restricts access to parts of the various component sites that they are not allowed to access. An AJAX selection system was used for the courses input to allow users to quickly find the courses that they have attended whilst minimising duplication and possibility other user errors.
I merged the Google Maps API and Map24 API to build a 'Quick Address' style address completion system where users input their postcode and the rest of the address is completed automatically. Again, this minimises user error and stores the addresses in a uniform way in case they need to be used in future.
